Ivan’s P.O.V.

I sighed, sitting on my floor and leaning against my bed, holding one of the sunflowers that _____ picked for me, her scent still lightly lingering on them. I smiled at her scent, closing my eyes. ‘I love everything about her. Her eyes, her smile, her hair… but, most importantly, her scent drives me crazy! I can’t lose her, just because I can’t stay calm when I’m around her any longer…’ I thought, before I looked up at the sound of not only something crashing to the floor in the hallway, but my door slamming open, Lithuania standing there, leaning on the door and trying to catch his breath, panic flooding his expression. My eyebrow raised, I looked at him, confused as to why he was here. Just as I was about to ask him, he ran up to me and dropped a piece of paper in front of me. I picked it up, looking at him, more confused than anything.

“I went to _____’s room, to see if she needed anything, and I found this!” he said, huffing and puffing. I blinked, and looked at what looked like a note. As I started reading, I lost the ability to breath.

Ivan,

By the time you read this, I will already be gone and out of your hair. I feel like I’ve overstayed my welcome, so I’m going out to find myself a new place, maybe a little house in the next village over. I’m sorry that I bothered you and the rest of the inhabitants of the house. I left, because it looks like you don’t wish to have me in your company anymore. I’m sorry to have disturbed you, and I could never thank you enough for all the kindness that you have shown me! I’ve decided to leave though, and move on. It hurts, but that’s the easiest thing I could think of doing right now. I’m sorry for any inconviences or problems I may have cause all of you while I was in your home, and I wish you nothing but the best in your life.

                                                                                                                Love,

                                                                                                                   _______

I stopped breathing. She left… because she thought I didn’t want her here anymore… No! That’s not true! I was only trying to protect her! I was only trying to make sure that she never found out about the truth of who I was. I felt this strange pounding in my chest, and then the feeling of my heart breaking, no, shattering to pieces. “No.” I said, standing up and pushing Lithuania back. “I can’t let this happen. I can’t let her go. Not until I tell her exactly how I feel about her.” I shouted as I zoomed down the hall, rushing through the front door and out into the night, following her scent that lingered in the air.

I sat in the middle of the field, sniffling. My crying had finally calmed down a little bit, but I was still having problems getting my breathing back to normal, every time I even looked up at the sunflowers, new tears would fall. Closing my eyes and drying my eyes, I heard a noise. It sounded like a rustling, like something was coming my way. I looked up, to see myself surrounded by wolves. There had to at least be an entire pack here! There were three surrounding me, making their way closer to me. I got up, and, not really thinking, started to run, but then a wolf jumped in front of me, freezing me in time, as I was then completely surrounded by them. I started shaking and shrinking down to the ground, covering my head and whimpering quietly. Only one person came to my mind.

Ivan…’ I thought, and I heard a growl, before wind, and then it all stopped. I heard a loud yelp, and, opening my eyes, they widened. Ivan was standing there in front of her, the wolf that went to jump on her caught in his hand, his hand slowly squeezing the life out of it. His eyes scanned the rest of the wolves, and growled. I flinched, looking at his face. Red eyes glared at the animals surrounding us, and fangs seemed to show themselves from his mouth. The wolves all whimpered, and ran off, Ivan tossing the one that he was strangling a couple feet away, and it getting back up and scrambling out of the field, and back into the forest. I stared, wide eyed and still frightened from the fact that I was almost mauled to death by a pack of wolves. Ivan turned around and looked at me, before a sad expression made it’s way to his face.

I looked at _____, and my heart broke all over again at the look on her face. She looked terrified, wide eyes and tears starting to line the rims of her eyes. ‘That’s it. It’s over. I’ve scared her, and now she’s never going to want to come back with me. I’ve lost her…’ I thought, feeling my will to leave rapidly leave my body. I turned back around, holding back tears, and started to walk off, planning on just going and killing myself in the woods. ‘It’s not like anyone would ca-’ I started to think, before I was stopped. I looked down at my waist, to see a pair of (s/c) arms wrapped around it, and a face pushed into my back. Keeping silent, my eyes widened at the sound of sobbing and choking.

“T-Thank you… Ivan…” she whispered, as she kept crying and trembling behind me. My eyes widened, my mouth falling open slightly. I pulled away from her, and turned around, looking at the complete and utter sad look on her face, before I took her by her arms and pulled her to me, hugging her as tight as I could, without hurting her.

“Please. Don’t ever leave me again. I wouldn’t know what to do if you ever left me, sunflower…” I said, burying my face in her hair, inhaling the addictive scent. She sniffled and gripped my coat, before she looked up at me, tear trail stains becoming noticeable on her face.

“Why…?” she questioned, and I looked down at her, pretending to not know what she was talking about.

“Why what?” I asked, sending a small sad smile her way.

“Why have you b-been avoiding m-me? If you wouldn’t know w-what you would d-do if I ever l-left again, why w-were you ignoring m-me and a-avoiding me? I-I thought you d-didn’t want to s-see me a-again!” she cried. I smiled softly down at her, placing a finger on her lips, and wiping her tears away with my other hand. Sighing, I looked away from her.

I guess I have to…’ I thought, as I refused to make eye contact with her. “_____... The thing is… I’m not human. I was at one point, but I’m not anymore. I’m a vampire, a monster of the night, and you don’t deserve the burden of having to know just what you are living with…” I said, as I squeezed my eyes shut, not wanting to see the look on her face and pulled away from her, as my fangs started to ache and throb. I flinched a little, and opened my eyes when I felt something soft on the side of my face. Her hand was there, and she was smiling gently at me, with love in her eyes. My eyes widened, as she got on the tips of her toes, kissing my lips briefly, before pulling away and looking at me.

“I don’t believe that. The vampire thing, sure, it makes sense, because you slept all day and never came out at night… But I don’t believe for one second that you’re a monster. You are too sweet, and a man that is as sweet and as caring as you could never be considered a monster.” She smiled at me. I smiled down at her, leaning down and kissing her lips, wrapping my arms around her and lifting her off the ground, her feet dangling a little off the forest floor. She smiled into the kiss, moving her lips against mine, and both of us moved in sync with one another. I licked her lip shyly, and when she opened her mouth, I moved my tongue inside of it, touching every part of it. Her tongue fought mine, and I won, but right now, it felt like time had frozen. We pulled away when we had to breath, and when we did, my fangs ached even worse. Squeezing my eyes shut, I tried to keep the painful growl down, but all I was able to do was make it hardly noticeable. I squeezed my eyes shut tighter and clenched my teeth, not wanting to hurt _____ in any way.

I saw the look of major discomfort on Ivan’s face, and I figured that his fangs ached. I smiled at him, moving my (h/l) hair off my neck, and put my hand on his cheek again. Ivan opened his beautiful lavender eyes, and they widened when he saw my neck. I smiled at him. “Go ahead. I know you need it, and I am perfectly fine with this. If it means I get to spend the rest of eternity with you, then you can do it. I really want you to do this.” I whispered. Ivan’s face went from painful, to shocked, to lovingly smiling, as he leaned down to the nape of my neck, whispering against it and sending a chill up my spine.

“Are you sure…” he asked, and I nodded. “I love you, _____.” He whispered, and he kissed my neck. The electric feeling I had when he did this was like nothing I had ever experienced before. I shivered, and he smiled against my neck, his fangs brushing against it, before he bit down on my neck. I felt this pleasure surge through me, and I moaned, clinging to him like a lifeline. I started feeling light-headed and weak, before the whole world went black, my body falling against Ivan’s.
